As reported by TMZ, Ice Cube is going to become the new commissioner of the BIG3 league, the competition that is played under the 3 × 3 format and has allowed to see on a court former players of the NBA like Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups or Jason Williams.
Ice Cube, one of the co-founders of BIG3, will replace Roger Mason Jr. in the post, after he confirmed yesterday in a statement that he had been fired by the same league. Mason Jr. denied that his departure had anything to do with the corruption allegations that were being speculated.
“BIG3 has fired me in retaliation for the legal claims I made, through a letter from my attorneys sent to the league, to expose the violation that had been made of my employment contract”, Mason Jr. argued in his statement, He also said that the working environment at BIG3 was “hostile and racist” and accused the co-founder of the competition, Jeff Kwatinetz, of having articulated a “malicious and defamatory campaign to disparage me”.
A spokesperson for Kwatinetz and Ice Cube told TMZ that “Mason Jr.’s claims don’t deserve a worthy response beyond the fact that they are absurd and false.” In this way, Ice Cube will act as commissioner until a new director is found for the competition.
