Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors, Game 3 – Preview & Predictions

The Western Conference Finals continue out in the ‘City by the Bay’ with the two teams that most expected to be here squaring off as the series changes venues. The top-seeded Houston Rockets are on the road for Game 3 of their best of seven set with the second-seeded Golden State Warriors Sunday night. Golden State drew first blood in the series as they pulled away in the second half to earn a 119-106 win Monday night in Game 1. Houston rebounded with a convincing 127-105 shellacking in Game 2 to even the series. The Rockets own a 121-92 edge in regular season wins and took two of three this season, including a 116-108 home win in the last matchup January 20. In the postseason, Golden State has won both previous series and holds a 9-3 edge in head to head playoff wins.

Houston [+7.5]

Rockets are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

Rockets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game

Golden State [-7.5]

Warriors are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

Warriors were a step slow Wednesday night so perhaps the three days of rest will help them. Perhaps it’s the toll of a fourth straight deep playoff run taking effect on Golden State as the longer slate means shorter offseasons and less time to recuperate. Houston played a game that was more their style in Game 2 and they bombed away with corner threes and forcing the Warriors to take tough shots. Thompson was shut down offensively and Green has been a non-factor on that end of the floor in the series. Golden State should prevail at home but take the points and the Rockets in this one as the Warriors have to prove they can handle Houston.
