After what can only be deciphered as an inconsistent postseason all around, we’re ready to kick off the NBA Finals out west. The fourth-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers, champions of the Eastern Conference, are on the road to face the second-seeded Golden State Warriors, champs of the West, in Game 1 on Thursday night. Cleveland advanced by winning an ugly Game 7, 87-79 on the road in Boston Sunday night. Golden State erased a double-digit deficit for the second straight game as they knocked off Houston 111-102 on the road in Game 7 Monday night. The Warriors own a 59-52 edge in the all-time regular season series and have won three straight meetings, including both this season. In the playoffs, the Warriors have won two of the three previous series between the teams and hold an 11-7 edge in head to head playoff wins.
Cleveland Cavaliers [+12.5]
Cavaliers are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Pacific
Cavaliers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 3 or more days rest
Cavaliers are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 Thursday games
Golden State Warriors [-12.5]
No Key Trends
To say that both teams went through a war to get here is accurate. Cleveland overcame 2-0 and 3-2 series deficits to beat Boston in Game 7 on the road. The Celtics were 37-0 in series that they led 2-0 before falling Sunday night. Golden State was nearly blown out of their own building early in Game 6 before rallying to win in a rout as they shut Houston down. The Warriors had their typical third-quarter run in Game 7 to bury the Rockets and earn their spot here. In this one, Golden State simply has too much firepower for Cleveland to handle. Unless James can get some help, consistently, this could be a short series.
Pick: Golden State Warriors*
