Nadal ‘Knocks Down The Tower’ Del Potro And Will Face Thiem In His 11th Roland Garros Final

◼️ The Spaniard had no problems to eliminate the Tower of Tandil and is one triumph away from his 17th Grand Slam.

Rafael Nadal showed his most voracious side and ‘ripped’ Juan Martin Del Potro to earn a place in the Roland Garros Final, where he will look for Dominic Thiem his eleventh title in French clay.

The Spaniard threw the Argentine in three sets by sets of 6-4, 6-1 and 6-2. Now he will try to maintain his unbeaten record at the end of this Grand Slam, where he is 10-0, but where he will face the young Austrian, one of the great promises of clay.

The triumph was created since Delpo missed six break opportunities in the first set, in addition to suffer a muscle problem due to a overstretch getting a ball in the third game, contrary to Nadal, who when he found three break points managed to break the serve to the Argentinean and win the first set.

But the physical wear and tear began to wreak havoc and added to the moral blow of the mistakes made in the first round, took its toll on the Argentine, who collapsed allowing a convincing 1-6 against in the second set.

The third set was no different, Nadal was a shark in the open sea and Del Potro a tired fish, resigned to being devoured without any resistance, despite having a 77% effectiveness in the first service and to nail two aces in exchange for none of the Mallorcan.

It was the 10th victory against five losses for the Spaniard over Tandil, who couldn’t increase his record of nine wins against a number 1 in the world, which has him as the top executioner of the ATP leaders.

Nadal, 32, is one victory away against Dominic Thiem to win his 17th Grand Slam of his career and his eleventh Roland Garros. He also cut his distance with Roger Federer, who with 12, is the tennis player with more appearances in a Grand Slam final.
