The tournament starts this Thursday at 11 am (ET time in the USA) with a match between the host, Russia, and Saudi Arabia at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow, where the opening ceremony will take place about half an hour before. According to the organizers, music will be the main protagonist of the gala.
The 44-year-old British artist will be accompanied in his performance by the Russian opera performer Aida Garifullina. The 30-year-old singer became famous for his performances at the renowned Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg and is currently working at the Vienna State Opera.
Ronaldo, world champion in 1994 and 2002, said the party has always been something special. “No one knows what will happen in the next four weeks, but everyone is sure that it will be remembered,” said the former Real Madrid player. It is expected that Russian President Vladimir Putin will also attend the opening ceremony.
