◼️ The Argentine managed to prevail against the Frenchman in four sets and he waits for the No. 1 of the World in the next instance of Wimbledon.
Without showing his best version, Juan Martin Del Potro won in the Wimbledon round of 16 to Gilles Simon in four sets with partial 7-6 (1); 7-6 (5); 5-7 and 7-6 (5). Thus, the Argentine advanced to the quarter, an instance in which he will face no other than Rafael Nadal.
The match began on Monday and played three sets until the lack of light prevented the game’s continuity just at the worst moment of the Tandil. After three short games in which he practically did not have physical wear, the Argentine suffered his first difficult stop in the third Grand Slam of the year.
While he started positively adjudging the first two sets, suffered in the third and even argued with the referee, who caught his attention for having thrown the racket against the British grass.
Del Potro showed several unforced errors and a few points won in the second service. This Tuesday, in the resumption, the fourth set was for the Argentine that was left with the duel in the fifth match point in favor.
On Wednesday, Del Potro will be hand in hand with Nadal, one of the World. The faces have already been seen at Roland Garros and they will meet again on the grass. If the Argentine wins, he will remain as number 3 of the ATP ranking, his best historical position.
