The Chicago Cubs had a great comeback to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6 in the return to action of MLB this Thursday after the All-Star Game.
In the only game of the day, Chicago took a very productive fifth inning on the offense, scoring five runs to beat St Louis at Wrigley Field to go 6-3 up and turn the scoreboard around. The Cubs lost 3-1 in the fifth, but Ian Happ’s two-run homer highlighted the return of Chicago.
Chicago has now come back to win 31 times this season, the most in the MLB ahead of the Boston Red Sox (28).
With the best National League record, the Cubs, three games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central Division, have won 13 of their last 16 games. In Chicago they dream of repeating the 2016 championship.
