Todd Gurley Signs A 4-Year, $60 Million Extension Making Him The Highest Paid RB In NFL History

◼️ Todd Gurley agreed to a contract extension for 60 million dollars, 45 of them guaranteed.

Todd Gurley completed his best season in the NFL in 2017 and was the Offensive Player of the Year. After his good performance, the reward came to the Georgia graduate, who agreed to a contract extension for four years and 60 million dollars with the Rams.

The agreement includes $45 million guaranteed, a historic figure for a runner in the NFL. In addition, Gurley will receive a bonus of 20 million dollars when signing the contract and his average annual salary will be the bulkiest for a running back all-time.

Gurley appeared in his first year in the league and was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 (1,106 yards and 10 TD). However, in his second season as a professional his level suffered a worrying fall, adding only 885 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

In 2017, the young RB recovered his best version under the orders of the new head coach, Sean McVay. In 2018, he achieved 1,305 yards and 13 TDs in addition to adding 788 yards and six TDs per air. He was left alone behind Tom Brady in the race for the Most Valuable Player award of the campaign.

The Rams are confident that the best of Gurley, who is only 23 years old, is still to come, so they decided to tie him with such a contract.

“Even though Todd is already a great player, I think there’s always an opportunity to improve,” said McVay, who confirmed that the RB has already accepted the renewal offer.

Todd Gurley still has two seasons left in his rookie contract so the new deal will keep him in the Rams until 2023.
