Saint Louis Cardinals asserted a perfect first inning, in which he scored six runs, to prevail 6-2 over Chicago Cubs this Sunday, at Busch Stadium, and move to 53-51 this season in MLB. The Cubs were 60-44.
Matt Carpenter opened the scoring at the bottom of that first inning with a simple touch. Marcell Ozuna then followed with a big punch on the left-center field fence to extend the lead and Yairo Muñoz added a double producer two turns later.
Saint Louis starter Miles Mikolas allowed two runs in six innings to seal the victory. Javier Baez was responsible for the two Chicago races with a home run in the fourth inning.
