The world champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC) and super world champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), the Kazakh Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin, will expose his belts, in expected duel of revenge, before the two-time Mexican world champion, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, in the super fight to be held this Saturday, at the Arena T-Mobile, Las Vegas , Nevada.
The fight is organized by Golden Boy Promotions, it will be televised by PPV-HBO in the United States and by Space in Latin America. The Canelo-Golovkin 2 is a fight demanded by the fans, after a questionable draw, which they had both, just a year ago, on the same stage.
That first fight generated 1.3 million PPV sales and at least 27 million dollars in tickets, the third biggest box office in the history of boxing.
This second fight will occur, after several impediments, including the suspension (of 6 months) of “Canelo” Álvarez, for failing in two antidoping tests (which canceled the original date of rematch, on May 5) and several conflicts contractual.
But, the fight was schedualed for this September 15 in Las Vegas, where another high-level, tactical, clean boxing, technical and power challenge is expected between a Canelo Álvarez, who in 52 bouts has only lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and GGG Golovkin, who is still undefeated in boxing, after 39 bouts and 34 knockout rivals.
“Canelo” tested positive in two antidoping tests and the Mexican champion always assured that it was due to the consumption of contaminated meat in Mexico.
