◼️ The Mexican broke the unbeaten Kazakh, in a majority by points, and was left with the titles in the middle weight category in a high level clash between the two.
Saul Canelo Alvarez delivered the big blow against Las Vegas, the Mexican got his revenge against the Kazakh Gennady Golovkin and defeated him by majority decision in the cards. Now he is the new middle weight king in the WBA, WBO and FIB.
After 12 intense rounds of high level boxing between both and with several crosses, blow by blow, Alvarez won for two judges by 115-113, while another gave a tie at 114-114.
Canelo (50-1-2) was far from waiting to counterattack and felt the power of his fists, although the experience of the Kazakh made him dominate the center of the ring. At the age of 36, Golovkin (38-1-1) seemed more complete towards the end of the match, hit good shots, but ended up empty-handed.
The fight is the rematch after the draw in September 2017, in another spectacular fight between Canelo and GGG. However, the revalidation was scheduled for March but the Mexican was penalized after doping with clenbuterol, accusing the consumption of meat in poor condition, delaying the new meeting between the two.
Will there be a third edition? “If people want a third fight, we’ll see, now it’s time to enjoy,” Alvarez said shortly after learning of the triumphant ruling. Meanwhile, Golovkin decided to go quickly to the dressing room without making statements.
