The “wrong” body of a Palestinian teenager shot dead by Israeli troops has been handed over to his family, Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera reported on Saturday.
According to the report, his body was returned to the family of the teenager who was killed in the occupied West Bank last October. But family members said the body belonged to someone else.
According to Al Jazeera, Israel has decided to return the bodies of slain Palestinians Isra Khazemia and Amjad Abu Sultan “on humanitarian grounds”. Among the dead were Israr with mental health problems and Sultan as a minor, Al Jazeera reported.
However, after returning the body, Abu Sultan’s family said that the body was not his.
On October 14, Abu Sultan was killed in the occupied West Bank area of Beit Jala near Bethlehem.
The Israeli military, meanwhile, called the incident a “tragic mistake.” Al Jazeera reports that the Israeli army’s policy of retaining the bodies of Palestinians killed in the incident is being revisited. Human rights groups have blamed the policy on exacerbating the plight of the victims’ families.

A new bill has been passed in the Pakistani parliament to chemically track down sex offenders convicted of multiple rapes.
Chemical castration is a method of reducing sexual ability by applying drugs. The sentence is legal in South Korea, Poland, the Czech Republic and several US states.
The bill was passed in the face of mass protests demanding harsher punishments for rapists due to the rising rate of rape of women and children across Pakistan.
The bill was passed almost a year after President Arif Alvi approved a new anti-rape ordinance. As a result, there are no longer any legal barriers to punishing rapists.
The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2021, along with 33 other bills, was passed in a joint sitting of parliament on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Dawn news agency reported.
