Expressing hope that Khaleda Zia will survive for the people, BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said that the demand for the fall of the government should be more important than her demand for medical treatment.
He said the people will bring the BNP back to power. We believe that Khaleda Zia will survive for the people. So I think the demand for the fall of the government should be more important than the demand for Khaleda Zia’s treatment.
He was speaking at a rally at the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Friday (November 28th) demanding better treatment for Khaleda Zia and release of former Chhatra Dal president Rajib Ahsan.
Gayeshwar said one thing is clear from the words of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “I have kept her (Khaleda Zia) at home from jail as much as I can,” he said. I would say to the Prime Minister, if you are dumping at Khaleda Zia’s house instead of the jail, then declare Khaleda Zia’s house a sub-jail.
Commenting that there is no chance of getting justice in Bangladesh, he said that medical services were provided to the convicts till the moment before they were hanged. This is the responsibility of the government. The health of the accused was also examined just before the execution. That is why I say, justice can be sought only when there is an opportunity to get justice. But now there is no such opportunity in Bangladesh. Government institutions and state institutions have become one. Now Sheikh Hasina is in such a state that her words are the last word, her words are law, her words are constitution. Maybe two days later his words will be religion.
Addressing the BNP leaders and workers, the BNP leader said, “We should swear to those who are in need of medical treatment abroad. If my leader cannot go abroad for treatment, then we will never go.” I will die if necessary.
Gayeshwar further said that today’s newspaper has said that if Begum Khaleda Zia apologizes to the President, it will be considered humane. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. You can forgive again. No humanitarian aspect is in the hands of the government here. This fascist government will be humane, that’s what I expect.
He said that even an ordinary person of the country has the right to get medical treatment. Because, medical is one of the fundamental rights of the state. Begum Zia will apologize, saying that she was put under more emotional pressure. If there was law in the country then it would be judged. There are countries in the world where you have to ask the government for treatment.
Convener of the Combined Student Youth Forum Adv. BNP organizing secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, executive committee member Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah and Sechchasebak Dal general secretary Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel were also present at the rally presided over by Nahidul Islam Nahid.
Convener of Citizens’ Unity Mahmudur Rahman Manna has said that the management required for the treatment of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is not available in Bangladesh. He said that he (Khaleda Zia) is now on the verge of death. The doctor said that he has been going through a very difficult time for the last few days.
He said this while addressing a discussion meeting on the occasion of 12th anniversary of Sonar Bangla Party at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of National Press Club on Friday (November 26).
