The third season of The Witcher appears to be clinging to us by a thread of hope. Season 2 of The Witcher was released in December of 2021, and it served as the final chapter in the series’ s saga. We know one thing for sure as we wait for the new season to begin. Netflix has no plans to release The Witcher Season 3 in June, or any other time soon. It’s a bummer, but it’s the reality.
Unknown to many, The Witcher is a Polish-American drama series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s bestselling book series of the same name. It takes place in a mediaeval universe known as ‘The Continent’, a landmass that stretches across the globe.
In this story, fate links Geralt of Rivia and Princess Ciri together for an epic journey. In December 2019, Netflix premiered The Witcher Season 1, which was based on the novels The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, and in December 2021, The Witcher Season 2, which had eight episodes. Netflix renewed the show for a third season around this time.
When The Witcher Season 3 finally comes out, here are some theories about what to expect.
Season 3 of The Witcher Release Date
At the very least, we know that Season 3 is coming. However, we are unable to tell you an exact date. Blood Origin’s release date has already been set for 2022. The Witcher Season 3 is most likely aiming for a 2023 release date. According to sources, filming has begun and post-production will likely take a few more months, putting the premiere date out to the beginning of next year. Hold on to your faith and your breath until then.
Season 3 of The Witcher Cast

Season 3 of The Witcher Synopsis
It is said in the official synopsis for the Netflix series that “Geralt hides Ciri from Cintra, determined to safeguard his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. as monarchs, magicians and animals compete to seize her.”
They arrive at the walled castle of Aretuza, where Yennefer hopes to uncover more about Ciri’s untapped powers; instead they find themselves in a battleground of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. They have no choice but to fight back and risk losing each other forever if they are to survive.
Season 3 will pick off right where Season 2 left off, with a brand new storyline. In the hands of Geralt and Yenefer, Ciri is the target of many factions. It’s possible that these two rivals may go head-to-head in the next season. Andrzej Saprowski novel The Time of Contempt, according to Lauren Schmidt Hissrich’s tweet, may be adapted for Season 3.
Another common question is if the third season of The Witcher would feature several timelines. During an interview with The Wrap, Hissrich emphasised the importance of structure.
“There was no reason to do non-linear plots in season 2,” she continued. Because of this, we used a linear strategy that allowed us to experiment with many aspects of visions and flashbacks that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. Season 3 is fantastic, in my opinion. It’s based on “The Time of Contempt,” which I think is a book that can be readily adapted.
There’s a tonne of action, and many of the things you’ll see will leave you speechless. As a result, we’re letting that drive our narrative. In Season 3, for example, the events take place within a fairly short period of time. There isn’t much time passing because there isn’t any need.
There may be an opportunity to explore the Nenneke relationship in further depth during Netflix’s Unlocked Show,” Henry Cavill said. The Witchers, of course, would be a pleasure to work with again… The focus is on telling the story as intended, with as little detours as possible from the novels.”
Season 3 of The Witcher Official Trailer
An official trailer is extremely unlikely in the foreseeable future, as previously stated. For past seasons, a trailer would be released four to six months before the show’s premiere. As a result, it is necessary to check the release date and keep an eye on the trailer in order to make correct predictions. We’ll post any new information here if it becomes available.
