Luxury tourist ship ‘Bay One’ has started sailing on the Chittagong-St. Martin waterway. Bay One St. left for St. Martin’s at 11 pm from Patengar Ghat No. 15 in Chittagong on Thursday. Will return from St. Martin tomorrow Saturday.

The fare from Chittagong to St. Martin, including Asa, is a minimum of four thousand rupees per person. The maximum rent for a luxury cabin for two to four people is Rs 60,000. Tickets are available at the counter and online. Karnafuli Ship Builders Limited, which operates the ship, has set a regular departure schedule from Chittagong three days a week from next month.

Karnafuli Ship Builders Limited organized a press conference at Patengar Ghat No. 15 on Thursday on the occasion of the ship’s voyage again during the tourist season. Abdur Rashid, managing director of the company, said Bay One was launched on the Chittagong-St. Martin route last December under the supervision of Karnafuli Ship Builders Limited. However, due to the Corona epidemic, the movement was stopped last March. Even with the new initiative, rents have risen by 18 per cent due to rising fuel prices. One day’s fuel cost to operate the ship is 21 lakh rupees.

Abdur Rashid said, ‘With the help of the government, I will be able to bring 10 times bigger ships of Bay One to bring and take the pilgrims. It used to take a month to go for Hajj. It is now possible to reach Jeddah in eight days. Pilgrims on the ship will not suffer. Ships have more range than airplanes.

It was informed at the ceremony that more modern facilities have been added during the shutdown of the ship. The ship has 1,600 seats. The ship is capable of moving at a speed of 18 to 20 nautical miles per hour.

Tourists can book one-way or one-way tickets if they want. According to the new rental list, the one-way fare for economy class chairs is Rs 2,200. The return fare is four thousand rupees. One way fare in business class is 3 thousand rupees, round trip fare is 5 thousand 400 rupees. The fare for one way of the bunker bed is 4,400 rupees, 6,000 rupees for round trip. 4 thousand on one way to the open deck, 6,500 rupees for round trip. The VIP cabin of the two come and go 40 thousand rupees, the royal cabin 55 thousand rupees, VVIP cabin 60 thousand rupees. Apart from this, the rent for 4 people VIP Presidential Plus Cabin or Family Bunker Cabin has been fixed at Tk 60,000.

According to tourism officials, the demand for direct shipping from Cox’s Bazar to St. Martin is a long-standing one. This demand was finally met with the initiative and management of Karnafuli Ship Builders Limited. On the evening of November 25, another luxury cruise ship ‘MV Bewan’ will leave Patenga Water Bus Terminal in Chittagong for St. Martin. The ship will operate regularly between Chittagong and St. Martin during the current tourist season. This is also the first time that a luxury cruise ship has sailed on the Chittagong-St. Martin waterway.

MA Rashid, an entrepreneurial engineer who launched luxury ships on direct sea voyages from Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar, said the MV Karnafuli Express has been developed as a state-of-the-art luxury ship at its own dockyard. About 55 meters long and 11 meters wide, the ship has two main propulsion engines.

Each of these engines of the famous Cummins brand in the United States has a capacity of about 600 bhp. The ship can travel at a speed of about 12 nautical miles per hour. It has 16 VIP cabins.
