‘Vote once, vote twice, vote twice, vote twice. If someone pushes you to vote, you will push too. But don’t go into murder. This will tarnish the image of the government. ‘

This is how district Awami League general secretary and Gangni upazila chairman MA Khaleq was instructing the party leaders and workers at the election rally of Awami League candidate Delbar Hossain at Baniapukur village of Sholtaka union in Gangni, Meherpur last Friday night.

A video clip of this statement has already spread through social media. Various discussions and criticisms are going on about such statement of Awami League leader. In this context, other candidates have feared violence in the union.

Awami League leader MA Khaleq further said, “I will give the boat to the voting table, and I will give the votes of the members secretly.” The people in the administration can’t do anything here. The presiding officer, the polling officer and the police have nothing to do. I will give my vote, open it, put it on the table. Two to ten people can stand in the way. I will resist them. ‘

In response to Khaleq’s statement, the chairman candidate of Sholtaka Union and acting president of Juba League Md. Anwar Pasha told reporters, “MA Khaleq has made such a statement to question the government and the election. He has incited the people to violence in the area by ordering them to vote twice and thrice in one place.

He demanded that legal action be taken against the presiding officer, the polling officer and the police for not taking any control of the polling station.

Moniruzzaman, the incumbent chairman and independent candidate, said, “Khaleq’s statement has tarnished the image of the government.” Doubts have been raised about whether there will be a fair election in the area.

Regarding the video clip, MA Khaleq, general secretary of the district Awami League, said, “My statement has been misrepresented by cutting and editing the whole speech.” There is logic in one word and in another. ‘

Meherpur District Election Officer Muhammad Abu Ansar said, “Such a statement is not desirable from a responsible person. Of course this is unethical. If a written complaint is received in this regard, legal action will be taken after investigation.

Incidentally, the election will be held on November 26 in the third phase in Sholtaka union of Gangni in Meherpur. Four candidates are vying for the chairmanship. They are Md. Delbar Hossain (boat), current chairman Moniruzzaman (motorcycle), Anwar Pasha (pineapple) and Jan Mohammad (plow).

Mayor’s threat, ‘Independent candidate will not be allowed to enter the area’: Meanwhile, the Rajbari representative said, ‘Independent chairman candidate Ahmed Ali Master is a man of Awami League, he has become a candidate by keeping his mobile phone switched off saying he will withdraw his nomination. He will not be allowed to enter the area. He will not be allowed to pay any agent. Those who have done Mir Jafargiri with the boat — with whom Master has come to fight, this time we will show. ‘

Awami League chairman candidate Abdul Hannan Mollah came to the election campaign in Islampur union of Baliakandi in Rajbari last Saturday night. This is how Nazrul Islam Mandal threatened the independent candidate. The video of his speech has already spread through social media. Elections are scheduled to be held on November 28 in this union.

Independent chairman candidate Ahmed Ali Master said, “Mayor Nazrul has violated the election code of conduct and publicly declared that he will not allow me to enter the area.” Union Awami League leaders along with boat candidates were present there. There is panic among the voters in the area.

Awami League chairman candidate Abdul Hannan Mollah said he actually came to visit. It was not right to give in his speech.
