Serie Bourgeois has been named Barcelona’s interim coach following the dismissal of Ronald Koeman. The Catalan giants confirmed the matter in a statement on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Spanish media ‘Marca’ has claimed that the legendary Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez has agreed to take charge of his former club.
The 49-year-old Barjuan has been in charge of Barsa’s ‘B’ team for so long. For now, the responsibility of the chair left by Koman is on his shoulders. Barjuan, who has played 57 matches in a Spanish jersey in his professional career, is expected to pave the way for Xavi to come to Camp Nou.
Barjuan, who has won nine titles in 38 matches in Bar Barca jerseys, will take care of the practice of the Barca senior team from Thursday. The board, led by Juan Laporta, will then begin preparations to bring Xavi from Qatari club Al Saad. As soon as Xavi arrives, Barjuan will be sent back to the B team.
The short tour of Barjuan will start next Saturday night with the match against the home camp Camp Nou Alaves. Earlier on Wednesday, Koeman was sacked as Bara coach. After hours of defeat against Rayo Vallecano, the club authorities decided to release him.
On the other hand, after losing to Real Madrid in El Clasico, Barca president Laporta started secret talks with Xavi. Meanwhile, Spain’s World Cup winning star has also expressed interest in taking charge. However, he will be released from Al Saad’s contract (which lasts until the 2022 World Cup).
