◼️ The South Korean president, Moon Jae In, and the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, have signed an agreement to present a joint bid to host the 2032 Olympic Games.

The South Korean president, Moon Jae In, and the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, have signed an agreement to present a joint bid to host the 2032 Olympic Games and also to participate as a single country in major international competitions, including the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The proposal was launched last week by South Korean Sports Minister Do Jong-hwan, and has been included in the list of agreements signed Wednesday by Moon Jae In and Kim Jong Un.

The idea of this joint organization for the 2032 Games would be based on the success of this year’s Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, where the participation of North Korea helped to alleviate tensions in the peninsula.

Asia will host major international events in Tokyo (Summer Games 2020) and Beijing (Winter Games 2022) following the Pyeongchang as the next hosts of the Olympic Games. Seoul also hosted the Olympic Games in 1988. In addition, South Korea and Japan hosted the 2002 World Cup.
